About Brad
I’m Brad Chittenden, a specialist gynaecologist and fertility specialist based in Tauranga. I work in private practice, caring for women with a wide range of gynaecological and fertility concerns.
My aim is to provide specialist care that is thorough, practical and easy to understand. I like to give patients enough time to explain what is going on, work through the problem carefully and discuss the available options clearly.
Experience and training
I completed my initial medical training in South Africa before continuing my specialist training in the United Kingdom. I developed a particular interest in advanced laparoscopic gynaecological surgery and completed advanced laparoscopic training certified by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Minimally invasive surgery
My surgical practice includes laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis, ovarian cysts and fibroids, as well as laparoscopic hysterectomy. I tailor treatment to the individual woman, taking her symptoms, priorities and reproductive plans into account.
For heavy menstrual bleeding, I offer options ranging from medical management and less invasive procedures to myomectomy or hysterectomy when appropriate.
Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a major area of my practice. When complex disease requires it, I work with colorectal and urological surgeons to provide coordinated multidisciplinary care.
Fertility medicine
Alongside my gynaecological and surgical practice, I work in fertility medicine through Fertility Associates. This combination allows me to consider the potential effects of a condition and its treatment on future reproductive plans.
